Alex and I spent the first year and a half enjoying other neighbor’s backyards. I felt like it was our turn to host. The problem was that we didn’t have enough seating for all our new friends. We already had a nice teak table, but I wanted some outdoor furniture… a sofa, chairs, coffee table, etc. So off to Costco we went to invest in a new patio set. We found just what we were looking for, Continue reading
Whenever we visit our friends for dinner, we offer to bring a dish. 90% Of the time, they ask me to bring salad. They love my salads. Ironically, I don’t really even eat salad at home. But, because I belong to a CSA, I always have fresh organic veggies in my fridge that need to be used. So in the salad they go… whatever is in season! Continue reading
The CSA Challenge is on! In an effort to use all my fresh veggies, I’m creating new recipes, or reinventing old ones, to match up with my basket’s ingredients.
For the first day, I used two of the heirloom tomatoes to make a Caprese Pizza. Half warm, half cool. Totally tasty. Continue reading

I, on the other hand, require a lot more time and end up with something that looks more like an amoeba. Continue reading
A couple weeks ago, on a Saturday night, we had a multicultural homage to a friend who was turning the big 6-0. (Which is the new 4-0 BTW). We were in a French chateaux, celebrating a Canadian, with Italian heritage, with a thoroughly SoCal attitude. They had also ordered a wood fired pizza caterer to make the most delicious homemade pies: Continue reading

Several years ago, I joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). A CSA delivers fresh, organic, produce to your door at a frequency of your choosing. I always get interesting and unexpected things and this has taught me to get creative with my food. It’s also why I keep my pantry well stocked because it allows me to use all this great produce.
Because the produce is local, and just picked, they last forever. Herein lies my issue. Continue reading
Alex and I have been together for over twenty years. One of the first dishes his mom made for me was a family tradition- Po-Tacos. She makes them every time she goes camping. At first I was skeptical about the addition of potatoes to my tacos, but I quickly learned that this was a very good thing for a variety of reasons:
