After some delish fish tacos, we happened upon a gluten free bar in Cabo. The waiter was very persuasive and got our group to sit down for a drink. He then told us about the specials:
- 2 for 1 cervezas, which several were excited about.
- The Specialty de la Casa
He proceeded to describe this drink that they were well known for. Very simple, but tasty. A liquor we had never heard of before… “Licor 43.” The brand was developed by a Spaniard in the 1940’s, based on a historical Carthaginian recipe which has subtle citrus, vanilla and spice flavors. Today, it’s become a popular drink in Mexico.
After one sip, we were all hooked. Try it for yourself. You will be too.
Carajillo 43
- 1.5 oz strong coffee or espresso, room temperature
- 1.5 oz Licor 43 (*)
In a shaker, combine ice, coffee and liquor. Shake vigorously to combine. Pour into a martini glass.
(*) If you can’t find Licor 43, Tuaca is a good substitute.
