At each neighborly garden swap, the attendees bring three things:
- A swap item to share, generally homegrown, but many homemade goodies arrive as well.
- A drink to share
- A snack to share

A few weeks ago, the Floral Park Garden Swap groupies descended upon “Casa E.” The theme of the night was soup & stories. Tanya & Greg were our gracious hosts. They purchased their lovely home in April of 2016, after it was restored by the prior owner. Tanya & Greg, however, have turned this home into a masterpiece with period and style appropriate furnishings.
As with any old home, this house comes with some stories of its own. Continue reading
February came and went like the short month it is. While I’m still in busy season, but I managed to step away from the computer for some important milestones! Here’s what kept me busy this month: Continue reading
Happy New Year! Ummm… I know this is a bit late given we are now half way through February (what??!?!). However, this is the beginning of my busy season with work, so my social activities get cut down quite a bit. That said, I still managed to be a little social/mobile. Here’s how I spent my time: Continue reading
On Saturday night, Alisha texted us and asked if we were interested in going to dinner downtown. We had all been curious about a new restaurant that offered creative cocktails and sharable plates. So we drove the mile or two down the road to Mix Mix. We each ordered a cocktail and set about passing them around the table so everyone could try them. Continue reading

Don’t let the date scare you… despite entering under a ladder, crossing the path of a black cat, and opening several umbrellas in the house there was no bad luck on this night. Continue reading
Mine? Right now? Not at all. Well, except for herbs. Despite the planting of chard, peppers, and brussel sprouts late in 2016, my garden has only managed to produce 1 little pepper. Which is a problem when you have an upcoming garden swap. Hmm… what to swap…? Continue reading
Every once in a while I run across something that is the perfect version of itself. These are my favorite things, and I’d like to share them with you. This week’s edition: Continue reading
I’m part German, or at least I’ve been told that. The ancestry.com results aren’t back yet and German culture wasn’t part of my upbringing. I suppose the fact that I had a great uncle named “Herman the German” is a pretty good indicator that my ancestry, or part of it, lies in Deutschland. A couple months ago, a (German) neighbor invited us to the Phoenix Club (a distinctly German experience) for Karneval. Continue reading
